STORM RUN RESTRICTED ITEMS

In the interest of everyone’s safety the following items are not permitted on course for the Storm RUN:

  • Sleds
  • Dogs
  • Ski Poles
  • Ear Phones
However all of these items are permitted if you have them ALL on at the same time. (We're suckers for a good laugh)

STORM TOUR RESTRICTED ITEMS

In the interest of everyone’s safety the following items are not permitted on course for the Storm TOUR:

  • Dogs
  • Ear Phones
In other words, if you are planning to do the Storm Tour it is fine for you use ski poles to keep you upright and pull a sled with your kid and/or provisions. Pulling adults is likely going to be more frustrating then fun but if that floats your boat then we say party on!

TIME LIMIT

Everyone will have 2.5 hours to complete the course. We figure that should give us all plenty of time to get things done and get us home in time for dinner.

SNOWSHOES

Everyone has to start with two snowshoes on and finish with at least one. Also you must have at least one snowshoe on at all times. Your snowshoes should also have a minimum surface area of 120 square inches which works out to 20" long and 7" wide. Extra points if you bring out your Grandpa's old Mad Trapper snowshoes with original sinew.

 GOING OFF COURSE

You can expect Storm courses to be well designed and well marked. However from time to time people will go off course. If in the event that you do go off course you must return back to the last place that you were on course, find the correct path or ask for help and then kick it into high gear to make up for lost time. Failure to complete the entire course may result in disqualification. But then again, this is not the Olympics.

Bib Placement

Storm Runs are mass start events and manually timed. (ie On Your Marks - Get Set - GO!) Please ensure your bib is placed on your tummy to ensure we can record your time when you finish. Please feel free to ask the Race Director where your tummy is if you are not sure. Numbers should also be place horizontally in an up-right position. (I know, I can't believe I had to write that too.)

Passing / Being Passed

Throughout the event there is a good chance you will be passed and you will pass someone. Generally passing protocol is as follows:

Passer: 'On your left'

Passee: Moves to the right

Passer: Passes and says: 'Good Work / Keep it up / Doing Great'

Passee: Gathers his/her breath and says:  'You too Bud, you're doing Awesome!'

Passer and Passe: Completes manuver by returning to the center of the trail.

Please use discretion when engaging in passing. Select open areas where there is minimal potential for interference. Both Passer and Passe should work together to ensure a smooth and safe pass.

Event Results

Results will be posted as soon as available at the event. Please take the time to look them over, as any errors or omissions must be corrected on race day. Official results will be posted on the StormXC.com website within 24 hours of the event.

Age on race day

Racers will be placed in their age category based on the calendar year they were born in.

Awards and prizes

Finishers who place in the top 3 in each of age, receive an award which can be picked up at the Awards Ceremony. All participants are eligible for draw prizes at each event, but must be present at the draw to be eligible. In some cases it may be possible to exchange your prize at the event. No exchanges will be made after the race.

Abandonment

If you cannot complete the course you MUST check-in with the Race Director or Race Timer. Failure to do so will cause massive panic for the Race Crew and likely will result in Search & Rescue showing up at your front door.
